This was related to a nostalgic moment when I first played Pokemon Red as a kid. Charmander was my choice of starter of course. I always remember my plight when fighting against Brock and the first gym, Rock-types resisted and were strong against Fire-types. My only option, during a time without the internet and walkthroughs, was to use the easy-to-evolve Caterpies to get a Butterfree at the proper level to face Brock and attacks that worked effectively. I always thought this was the prime example of clever game design without babying the player.
