Illustration #1 - Forever

Once upon a time, there was a man by the name of Duke Nukem. He was a video game character who broke all the rules and stereotypes of a heroic character, and stole their catchphrases as well. He starred in three hit games created by 3D Realms from 1991-96 (aside from the couple spin-offs not many people really cared about), and no doubt was he going to get a fourth game afterwards by the title of "Duke Nukem Forever." It would be the game of every gamer's, and they meant EVERY gamer's, wildest desires for a video game. The company promised sexy women, explosions, guns, alcohol, violence, humor, good graphics, explosions, and most of all ACTION! What started out as an experience that would blow the minds many- ended up blowing up itself. The game was held in development for 15 years, switching development between various companies and gaining a new title amongst gamers, "Forever in Development." A trailer for it finally appeared with the promises it made before still intact along with an "official" release date, and thus the fans rejoiced. Upon it's complete arrival...

...the game sucked.

This drawing is to celebrate the complete suckery of a game that first promised to loyal video game fans that the arduous development of a game will ultimately result in awesomeness. And then promised to them that it would instead result in either nonexistence or the same cruel fate as "The Thief and the Cobbler." "Team Fortress 2" and other games were spared of this treatment, but it perhaps could mean an omen for the elusive "Half Life 3." Thanks a lot, Duke.

Initially a sketch and then made into a full color drawing. Made using Faber Castell colored pencils on Pentalic Nature Sketch paper. I actually finished this drawing about a week after the game first came out and forgot to show it to friends for as long as until now. This guy's a curse, I say!
